One Day Trek to Visapur Fort From Pune

Visapur Fort details :-

Visapur Fort Trek is located in Pune District, 5 to 6 km from Malavli Railway station out of which 3 km is steep road. It has an elevation of 1084 meters above sea level. It is built on the same plateau as Lohagad.

In 1818, when reducing the Peshwa’s forts, the strength of Lohagad and its fame as the treasury of the Maratha kingdom, caused the English to make special preparations for its attack. A detachment of 380 European and 800 native soldiers, with a battering train, summoned from Konkan, were joined by artillery from Chakan, and two other British battalions. On 4 March 1818, Visapur was attacked and occupied.The twin fort of Visapur is Lohgadh fort.

Distance from Pune to Visapur Fort:
Visapur Fort is approximately 65-70 kilometers away from Pune.

Duration:
The trek to Visapur Fort can take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours, depending on your hiking speed and the route you choose.

Best Time to Visit:
The best time to trek to Visapur Fort is during the monsoon season (June to September) when the entire region is lush green and the waterfalls are at their peak. However, be cautious during heavy rainfall as the trails can become slippery.

How to Get There:

By Car: You can drive from Pune to Visapur Fort by taking the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and then exiting towards Lonavala. Once you reach Lonavala, follow the road towards Bhaje Caves. Visapur Fort is adjacent to Lohagad Fort, and you can park your car near Bhaje Caves or the base village, Malavali.

By Train: You can also take a local train from Pune to Lonavala. From Lonavala, you can hire a taxi or auto-rickshaw to reach Malavali village, which is the starting point for the trek.

Trekking Route:

Malavali to Visapur Fort:    The trek starts from Malavali village, and the trail is well-marked. It is a moderately easy trek suitable for beginners. The route will take you through lush green forests and open fields. After a few hours of trekking, you will reach the Visapur Fort.
Things to Keep in Mind:

Weather:    Check the weather forecast before starting the trek, especially during the monsoon season. Avoid trekking if there are heavy rains or storms.

Footwear:  Wear comfortable and sturdy trekking shoes with good grip, as the terrain can be uneven and slippery.

Water and Snacks: Carry an adequate amount of water and some snacks to keep yourself energized during the trek.

Trekking Essentials: Carry basic trekking essentials like a backpack, raincoat, a first-aid kit, a cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Respect Nature: Ensure that you leave no litter behind and respect the environment. Do not disturb the flora and fauna.

Safety:  Trek in a group if possible, and let someone know your trekking plans and expected return time.

Permission: As of my last update in September 2021, there may not be any formal permission required for trekking to Visapur Fort, but it’s always a good idea to check for any updated rules or regulations before you go.

There are no difficult trails/rock patches. Its a simple trek and can be completed by everyone.

• 6:00 AM: Report Shivaji Nagar Railway Station
• 06:30Am :Departure for lonavala.
• 08:00 AM: Reach base village and have breakfast.
• 8:30 AM: Start our trek to the Fort
• 10:30 AM: Reach Fort at top
• 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Relax and explore the fort
• 12:00 PM: Start descending via the same route
• 02:30 PM: Reach Base Village
• 02:30 PM: Have Lunch
• 05:00 PM: Start Depature To Pune
• 07:00 PM : Reach at Pune
• (1-2 hrs. delay is possible on the speed of trekkers )  _

Cancellation Policy:-

1. If Trek gets cancelled due to Police restrictions/any other unforeseen circumstances/natural calamity 40% of the amount will be refunded. Our trek leaders will try conducting some other nearby trek and make your weekend happy.
2. We always try to make your weekend the best one and as per the plan but in this covid time we need to make some changes in the plan.
3. If you cancel the trek by your own before 24 hrs. of the event ,25% will be cancellation charges. On the spot cancellation/12 hrs. before the trek will  not be refunded.
4. Once booking is done and if you cancel the trek the amount will not be refunded, but you can use the paid amount by attending any other event of Trekfit adventures in the next 6 months/pass on your credit to your friend.
